• Heterogeneity, uncertainty, and non linearity are the main drivers of logistics complexity. Despite the growing attention to this issue, current managerial models still neglect causes and effects of complex behavior. This paper focuses on decision making and provides an approach integrating performance measurement and System Dynamics to understand both the behavior of a logistics process when specific policies are applied and the system structure determining it. A case study analyzing different strategies to increase operational efficiency at a distribution center is detailed. The proposed methodology is a valuable basis for the development of complexity-oriented logistics and supply chain management. ()
